Abstract

This paper is a continuum of previous article titled "Effect of Sports on Menstrual Function"(Journal of RIMSK vol. 18;313. 1986).
It is well known that high intensity athletic performance causes delayed menarche at puberty and increases frequency of menstrual disorders such as oligoamenorrhea and impaired luteal function in reproductive ages.
So, these entities are called exercise-associated or athletic oligoamenorrhea as collective term.
But pathophysiology is not clearly identified up to present. Several hypotheses are proposed, which were already discussed previously. Now, neuroendocrine aspects of these exercise-associated menstrual days functions are thoroughly reviewed.
Systemic diagnostic procedures and principle of therapy are also presented.
